Occupational Safety and Health Policy

CAT recognizes its duty to ensure the safety and health of its employees, clients, contractors and visitors and in meeting this duty will comply with the requirements of the “Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994” and any other legislation and supporting documents that apply to its operations.

 

CAT, in its mission to manage and supply quality of manpower, is committed to achieving the highest standards of occupational safety and health in accordance with best practice.

 

Objectives

The CAT will ensure compliance with “Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994”, other legislation and current industry standards by:

  • providing and maintaining safe workplaces, plant and systems of work

  • providing information, instruction, training and supervision to ensure safe systems of work

  • ensuring that nominated safety personnel are adequately trained and supported

  • consulting and cooperating with safety and health representatives, employees, clients, contractors and visitors

  • providing and maintaining personal protective equipment (PPE) as required

  • continuously reviewing and improving its safety performance.

 

Responsibility

Each Head of Site supervisor is accountable for implementing this policy in their area of responsibility. Management is responsible for:

  • the provision and maintenance of a safe workplace and systems of work

  • involvement in the development, promotion and implementation of safety and health policies and procedures

  • training and supervising employees and in the safe performance of assigned tasks

  • the provision of resources to meet the safety and health commitment.

 

Employees, are to:

  • take reasonable care of their safety and health and that of others

  • follow all safety and health policies and procedures

  • report all known or observed hazards, incidents and injuries

 

Policy

  • establish safety as our highest core organisational goal

  • provide and maintain a workplace and systems of work, so far as is practicable, that employees, clients, contractors and visitors are not exposed to hazards

  • ensure that all employees are provided with information, instruction, training and supervision appropriate to the scope of work being undertaken

  • consult with employees on any issues that may affect their safety and health at work

  • continuously review safety management systems in order to meet or exceed best practice

 

All Managers and Supervisors are responsible to ensure, within their respective level of control, the safety and health of employees, clients, contractors and visitors to the workplace.

Employees are required to take all reasonable care to ensure their own safety and that of other persons. They are also required to comply with all instructions and directions established to provide a safe and healthy workplace.

CAT is committed to this policy and will review its contents on an annual basis.
